At T5, inclusivity isn’t just a word, it’s the foundation of everything we do. We celebrate the diverse identities and experiences of all our Scouts and strive to create a space where everyone feels safe, supported, and free to be themselves.
LGBTQ+ Scouting
T5 is a vibrant and welcoming Scout troop where every young person who identifies as male or masc-leaning can discover their potential and embrace their authentic selves. We believe in the transformative power of Scouting to build character, leadership skills, and a lifelong love for the outdoors. As an LGBTQ+ friendly troop, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all Scouts feel respected, valued, and empowered, regardless of their identity.
We Welcome All Scouts
- Gay Scouts: We enthusiastically welcome gay Scouts to T5. We believe that sexual orientation is a natural part of who a person is and has no bearing on their ability to be a valuable member of our Scouting community.
- Male Trans Scouts: We recognize and affirm the identities of male trans Scouts. We work closely with Scouts and their families to ensure they have access to appropriate facilities and resources that align with their gender identity.
- Masc-Leaning Non-Binary Scouts: We respect and honor the identities of non-binary Scouts who feel comfortable in a boys-only troop setting and whose self-identified gender is masc-leaning.
Important Note: As a boys troop affiliated with Scouting America, all Scouts must identify as male or masc-leaning in order to join.
A Safe and Supportive Environment
- Inclusive Language: We use gender-neutral language, like “Scout” and “youth,” and encourage the use of preferred names and pronouns.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: We respect the privacy of all Scouts regarding their sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Trained Leaders: Our adult leaders receive training on LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and are dedicated to fostering a culture of acceptance and understanding.
- Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: We have an absolutely zero-tolerance policy for any form of discrimination or harassment based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
