Neurodiversity Is Awesome!

Do you shine when you’re supported and understood?

T5 Welcomes Neurodiversity!

Are you autistic, have ADHD, or are neurodivergent in other ways? Do you love being outdoors, crave adventure, and want to be part of something amazing? Then T5 is the perfect place for you! We’re not just any Scout troop – we’re building a community where EVERY scout can shine.

What Makes T5 Different?

  • Small Groups, Big Impact: We keep our groups small so everyone gets lots of attention and it’s not too overwhelming. This helps our leaders get to know each Scout really well and give them the support they need.
  • Experienced & Understanding Leaders: Our leaders have special training in working with neurodiverse kids. They’re really good at figuring out what each person needs, changing activities to make them work for everyone, and making sure it’s a positive and encouraging place.
    • Led by Scoutmaster Adrienne Rubenstein: Ms. Rubenstein is a special education teacher at the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women. She’s passionate about teaching and understands how kids with different learning styles, like autism and ADHD, learn best. She makes sure our troop is inclusive and supportive.
    • Supported by Assistant Scoutmaster Dr. Walter Windisch: Dr. Windisch is a psychologist with years of experience working with neurodiverse kids and teens. He helps our leaders understand how to best support everyone.
  • Flexibility Built In: We know that everyone is different. We let Scouts participate in activities in ways that work best for them and their strengths.
  • Sensory-Smart Adventures: We pick campsites and activities with sensory sensitivities in mind. Whether it’s a quiet hike in nature or a busy project helping others, we try to make sure things aren’t too overwhelming and everyone has fun.
  • Social Skills & Teamwork: Scouting is all about making friends and working together. We help Scouts learn social skills, practice talking to others, and understand how important teamwork is in a supportive environment.
  • Celebrating Strengths: We focus on what each Scout does well! T5 is a place where neurodiverse kids can discover their talents, become more confident, and become leaders in their own way.

Beyond the Badge.

Being a T5 Scout means you get:

  • A Sense of Belonging: A place where you can be yourself and everyone accepts you.
  • Increased Confidence: Chances to succeed and shine, which will make you feel good about yourself.
  • Lifelong Skills: You’ll learn things like outdoor skills and leadership skills that you’ll use your whole life.
  • Lasting Friendships: A chance to meet other Scouts who like the same things you do.
